One of the attractions in Oostende is the Mercator ship. This is a tall ship which is open to the public.
It shows the rooms and accommodation of a working ship, and the Mercator has been used as training for cadets. It is
worth a visit.
Further north along the coast from Oostende is Blankenberge. Unlike Oostende, Blankenberge is not a major ferry
terminal, and is more intensely built up along the seafront. The weather there can be just as unpredictable as Oostende.
